... The answer is blowing in the wind...
Small facts:
About the windmeter:
The windmeter is a little windmill with cups, that turn with the wind. The faster the cup-system turns, the more wind we have for kite surfing. The system measures the wind at a certain moment in time (once every couple of minutes). Unfortunately it does not measure an average (yet). So, if there is a gust on the moment of measurement, then it will display a higher value then the real picture. It may also measure wind in a lull, meaning that it may show less wind then the actual situation. Bear this in mind when deciding to come for a surf session or not, double check other weather sites, and check this site more then just once before leaving.
The wind direction measurement is simply done by a rotating wind vane, located above the cups.
About the webcam:
The webcam is a common webcam placed in a plastic bottle. The software takes a picture every so many minutes. The live feed is slow, due to the limitation of available bandwidth. Also when many people connect to the live feed at the same time it will slow things down. So try to not keep the live feed on your screen longer then necessary. For the still picture this makes no difference, of course. They are better quality too.
March 2009: The webcam has physically moved closer to the sea, to Kitemed's. This gives a better picture of the scene.
When u jump, we can now actually see u fly. Wave, while you are at it :-)
